Hi All I'm not really keen on the idea of Plasticard, but, I attempted to use Plywood and couldn't get it correct. I do have a card kit and I printed a scalescene pack with a payment, I sent off for the Clear Matt Varnish and I'm still waiting. It is okay buying an "impressed plasticard Red Brick Wall", for a house or shed! but, a wall needs capping bricks and likewise, a Viaduct Arch needs either Five or Six rows of lining bricks. Can anyone out there please advise me?? all the best Kevin

Hi Kevin, Check out this thread... if I am reading your thread correctly. it should be useful for what you want. I suggest you use MDF for the bridge sides http://yourmodelrailway.net/view_topic.php?id=13163&forum_id=14 Cheers Trevor |

Another method is to cut the arches from ply, then cover with a thin layer of Das clay (air drying modellers clay). The clay neds to rolled out to about 1/8" thick, glued onto the ply with PVA. Prior to the clay completely drying, the arch stonework, the individual bricks or stone need to be carved into the surface. Allow to dry then paint. Cheers, Gary. ____________________ ...as a young lad, it was big trains for little boys, now it is little trains for big boys...! http://yourmodelrailway.net/view_topic.php?id=12116&forum_id=21 |

Hi Gary Cheers, that seems like a very clever idea, I wonder how many attempts it would take before I went completely mad??![]() ____________________ Staying on the thread Kevin. |

I have used Scalescenes downloads for brick arches (of structures, not in fireboxes) and while they are reasonably convincing if one has a decent printer they do need a lot of careful cutting to achieve the curvature. I like the ida of DAS clay mouldings though it is also possible to purchase ready-moulded brick arch facings from Wills (OO) and Ratio (N) which might also be an easier answer for the less experienced or adventurous. Enter "Wills Brick Arch Overlays" into your search engine. Or Ratio if you work in N-gauge. Is that what you're after? ____________________ Rick Layouts here and here |
