Just booked my ticket for this event on Saturday 20th June, 60 layouts, 40 traders, 10 demo layouts all spread across 4 stations on the Great central Railway. The ticket (£13) allows travel by steam between the stations all day, sounds a great day out and I wonder if any other members are planning to visit the event?? Hi Ron, Sounds excellent. The shows are one hing but the steam journeys would be the icing on the cake. I fly out to Cyprus on the 20th otherwise it could have been a great mini weekend away for me. I hope you and anyone else that intends going have a great day and post a few photo's on your return. Have a great time. Toto |

I am returning to the UK this week and will find time to visit the GCR event. Last year I did not have time to take it all in but this year I plan to spend all day and visit all stations and their offerings. I can certainly recommend the event. As an ex chauffeur working for Brush at Loughborough I regularly attended Gt Cenral events and even managed a footplate ride on a black 5 (it was boxing day and freezing). I hired my 1920's replica van to Hornby on 1 occasion and was lucky to meet wildlife artist David Shepherd there as he was running his Black Prince. Right enough name dropping.... but it is definitely worth a visit. | |||||||||

Just back, only one loco a Bachmann 45XX with DCC , a coach, a shunters truck, a colour light signal and bit's'n'bob's!! Loco trip on the Evening Star with Western region C1 stock, quite nostalgic!! Black prince is still going strong on the North Norfolk railway where Weybourne is based but I fear my tight curves wouldn't cope with a 9F's wheelbase!! I've just got back from there as well, but I wasn't sure if we were going! Spent the morning on a canal boat, learning to 'drive' it. Got to the GCR at 3, so didn't have as much time as I would have liked. Saw pseudo 'Evening Star' and went behind her sister for a run (Quorn - Rothey - Quorn). Great show, with lots of good layouts and plenty to buy as well (but I managed to keep my urges under control!). ____________________ Jeff |
