Pete, well done sounds inadequate, as your loco is an engineering artwork, showing great skill, design aptitude and ingenuity. You should be proud. I absolutely love it. Thank you. Thank you chaps, Bittern, I have started collecting bits and bobs to build a Johnson 1F tank to join her on my Wheeldon Mill layout, but there are two kits, a class 03 diesel shunter and a Peckett 0/4/0 shunter to build first, the 03 will be a challenge, its an old Vulcan kit that some one has started to build-badly-and lost half the parts including the chassis, it is going to have to be completely dismantled and started again! I have made the chassis sides but not the spacers yet. I will start a new thread on that build. Cheer's, Pete. ____________________ it was already on fire when I got here, honest! |

I haven't forgotten the Atkinson-Walker. Still trying to figure out things. The chassis is going to be the trickiest bit. ____________________ I'm old, that's why I'm allowed to change my mind, when I can find it. My Website: http://www.dcminerals.co.uk |

Really stunning work, Pete. Only if I could do half as good. Wonderful stuff skillfully executed. Not sure about that loco crew though, but then again, I was never a fan of whitemetal (?) figures. Allan, your number one fan. |

Thanks Terry ![]() Thank you Bittern, to be honest I haven't decided what to do regarding naming or otherwise. As it is to be used on my Wheeldon Mill layout which is based on the old Staveley works near Chesterfield I wanted to keep my locos liveries as they were on the real system, the only photo I have of an Andrew Barclay is blurred but it appears to have a painted something on the tank sides. However as I also have a kit to build for a Peckett that I don't think was used on the works I would very much like the name plates, so, thank you very much! I will pm you mate. Cheer's Allen, praise indeed from an acclaimed modeller like yourself, much appreciated. The white metal figures do take some fettling to get them looking something like, some are better than others and the prices are reflected in this. Its nice though to take something a bit rough around the edges and make it look good! Sorry for not getting back to you all sooner, I have had a long weekend away, and it takes time to catch up with all the posts ![]() Cheer's, Pete. ____________________ it was already on fire when I got here, honest! |
