Collected my baseboards from Tim Horn yesterday. Had 1 assembled this evening, beautiful job. Square and flat straight off. Then I painted it. Got a Matchpot tube of matt black which has an applicator on the bottom of it. Didn't use that. Raided the kitchen stores and got a sponge scourer. Covered the baseboard in no time with no mess. Second 'board will be built tomorrow. Bit different due to sector plate, but much the same principal. Then track laying. Pots Lane Yard is on it's way! ____________________ I used to be indecisive but now I'm not sure. |

"Raided the kitchen stores and got a sponge scourer." Presumably, you use a paint brush to wash your dishes? ![]() Terry |

![]() Pots Lane Yard in the very early stages, the light area is the sector plate. Obviously the track isn't down yet, just laid on the boards to give me some idea of what goes were. The end of the board will be covered by a plain panel to hide the holes. Tim supplies plain panels to cover the sides of the baseboards and hide the joints. Very neat. As I'm only running small loco's and stock the sector plate is 2 feet long. Approx. half of which hangs over the end of the board. I used a piece of 6 mm MDF for it, with a piece of 2 x 1 underneath to strengthen it. I also used MDF to box in the sides and the end. The weight of this lot caused the 'plate to tip back, not good, so I fitted a small tongue at the front which sits under the baseboard top. A bonus is that the 'plate is self aligning. The sector plate itself is fastened by a 3/16 th bolt and wing nut for removal. The whole lot sits on 3 trestles at a height of about 42". ____________________ I used to be indecisive but now I'm not sure. |

Just an observation. We appear to have two separate threads running about the same project. Terry |

My fault. If mods want to move Painting baseboards into Pots Lane Yard it would make sense. ____________________ I used to be indecisive but now I'm not sure. |
