Today, Reg (Sparky) and I paid a visit to the Northampton show and it turned out to be well worth it. The show was quite small, with around 22 layouts, but overall it was of good quality. There were several that caught my eye and here are just three of them.

The first was a tiny shunting layout called Evington St John an East Anglian freight yard, I liked all the detail near the sidings:









The second layout was another shunting layout in 3mm fine scale called Wantage Tramway. What I really liked was that it worked - no hand of god here. Coupling was automatic using the D&G system all set in a very rural environment.








The third, and my favorite, is a 2mm N gauge layout called Dentdale which is inspired by the Settle and Carlisle line. I liked the sense of space and the detail on such a small scale was stunning. In the centre of the layout are two impressive viaducts:
