This is my first attempt at constructing a base board. It is a hinged affair with the ability to fold up against the wall when I have guests staying. Still to fit brackets to hold it in place when stowed but funds are low (again!). Quite beefy and will hold my weight with no problems. Sawdust was a bleddy pain to hoover. 8' x 4'. Further pics at a later date with track plan and 'stuff'. FSA! | |||||||||

Looking good, Chris. ![]() Just a suggestion - you can save yourself some work if you put all of your photos in the one post. Just hit Enter twice after the photo and bung in the next one. - unless you're trying to boost your post tally. ![]() ____________________ Max Port Elderley |

Hi Chris, A very familiar scene indeed. You might want to put in some cross members between the legs just to add a wee bit more rigidity. ........ Just a thought. Excellent stuff though. Cheers Toto |

G'day Chris, One thing I may add to this, is to hinge the baseboard (if possible) about 4"- 6" out from the wall. This way, any structures such as station buildings, goods sheds etc, will not be crushed against the wall when it is folded up. Or the other option is to remove all the furniture and have no visitors staying over ! ![]() Cheers, Gary. ____________________ ...as a young lad, it was big trains for little boys, now it is little trains for big boys...! http://yourmodelrailway.net/view_topic.php?id=12116&forum_id=21 |

If I could find alternative accommodation for visiting family I would but they are dear to me. I may be cutting a 'manhole' around the back section to help with the reach problem (being a stunter I encounter this kind of problem on a daily basis). Structures will be built - eventually - to be removed when required for storage. Got a few ideas but nothing concrete about the layout. There are ten folding legs which are surprisingly sturdy and virtually impossible to knock away all at once, if such becomes a problem I have some spare timber to form braces to hold the legs in place. Thanks for the comments and tips guys all are very welcome. The difficult thing is not to over use my overdraft. May be utilizing my ebay account in the coming months to its errr shall we say full potential. |

Hi chris, the layout itself will develop over time as you get your head together on it .Do you have any preference towards steam or diesel or is the jury still out on that one ? cheers Toto |

That's a tough looking baseboard Chris. ![]() I think you'll need that pop-hole pretty soon and yes, I did see that little pile of sawdust and thought "he'll be popular" !!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ____________________ 'Petermac |
