Hello everybody,

Having just read Geoff Kent's inspiring articles on scratchbuilding 4mm coaches in plastic card (Model Railway Journal, 222 & 226) I'd like trying to build one or two myself. As I'd like to build Thompson non-corridor coaches (brake third and third) I'm trying to find scale drawings of them. I wonder if anyone came across some drawings he could share (by scanning)?

Thank you very much in advance

Cheers

Helmut

Hi Helmut

Perhaps a good place to start may be one of the following links:

http://www.barrowmoremrg.co.uk/Prototype.html      Loco, EMU, DMU, Coach, Wagon diagrams of all vehicles taken into BR stock.

http://www.lnersociety.org.uk                 The official body for the LNER with a large amount of material available to members including drawings. Membership of the Society is required which runs June to June and is £20/annum but there is a 50% discount (£10) if you are joining after January 1st.

http://www.lner.info/                  The LNER Encyclopedia which has produced diagrams including detailed dimensions for the Hornby Gresley non-corridor stock and other vehicles.

If your interests cover other railways you may like to have a look at The Historical Model Railway Society which covers all the companies and lists all its drawings (including LNER and its constituents) on its website: http://www.hmrs.org.uk

It may be not exactly what you want but it will hopefully give you a good foundation for further research. Don’t forget also the National Railway Museum in the UK which has an online search engine for it’s large collection of drawings.
Looking forward to seeing how you get on!

Regards

Bill
