This is one of those stations that I would really like to have visited in its heyday. The Georgian style, stone features and engineering brick make for a pleasing combination. Not only is it a big station there were extensive yards here as well. It would make for an interesting model for anyone with lots of space (and cash). © David Meaden ![]() The impressive sweeping drive up to the station entrance is now rather spoiled by a modernist building. ![]() The drive is behind the parapet wall above the lower arcade. It would be interesting to know what that area was originally used for. Any ideas anyone? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() There was once an overall roof and these half round windows helped to light the interior. ![]() ![]() ![]() A rather sad sight. How long before the bridge is condemned on safety grounds? ![]() ![]() The former parcels bays. ![]() The sad sight of a once busy yard now becoming overgrown. |

They certainly new how to build such grand structures in those days. At least most of it and the surrounds are being looked after, and a sad to see the rest in decay. |
