See what we can do boss ! Unfortunately my camera packed it in about a month ago and I haven't had a chance to replace it... Too many models to buy... Hopefully Dave or Andy could bring one... ;-);-)

If all goes well, I'm looking at getting to the exhibition on Saturday around 10am. I say 'goes well' as I have been struck down with the dreaded lurgy.  Looking to be fit for Saturday with the meds I'm on !   Although having a few days off work has got me back on the layout again...

Cheers, Gary.

Epping has a fair bit of second hand items, in OO, HO, N etc. There were quite a few long tables set up. Majority of items are pre-bagged and priced. I would suggest to get to the stand as a priority. I arrived last year before the doors opened and the queue out the front was a good 150-200m long !

Cheers, Gary.

ps. I'm picking up a cheap camera today for a few pics.

Well, trackwork between Newcastle and Hornsby, so I'm going have to take the van down instead.

I hope the old girl makes it !!!  Aiming for 10ish arrival.

Darn!   I knew I should have called off the trip down once I knew the trains were cancelled. Between Morriset and  Gosford the van started mucking up. As soon as I got her up to about 100kph, she started coughing and stuttering. This is NOT FUN when you have a semi just behind you. Twice I had to pull off quickly into the parking lane.. and once  had to use the emergency lane all the way up a hill, hazard lights flashing.

So decided to get of the freeway, and went along the Old Pacific Highway. The van had no more issues so long as I was content to just potter along. So it took me about 2.5hrs to get there

Got to the Exhibition.. had a good look around, not much usable British stuff anywhere, even in second hand. So after looking at all the layouts twice more, I decided to try to make it home, avoiding the freeway.

Somehow I took a wrong turn out near Peats Ridge and ended up at Wollombi, every hill a breath holder..random stutters whenever I asked the van to more than dawdle. Talk about a journey!!!

So FOUR hours later.  I'm finally home !!   Van gets a trip to the doctors asap !!

Moderators.. I have no idea what is going on with this.. It keeps spacing it out with big gaps..  no matter how I edit it !!!

Edit by Sol - got the size reduced plus some spaces reduced

I once had the same problems with an old Hiace van I had. My issues started on the climb up Mount Ousley on a trip back from the South Coast. Gotta love it when semis are right on your backside and there is no room to pull over !!

You were right about the lack of British outline. The only two layouts were Bridport South and the occasional visit of British trains on the Coffs Harbour Clubs layout. The prices in the second hand stall were unbelievable... The only decent thing I bought were 4 sheets of styrene and a pack of trees, total cost $11.00.

Cheers, Gary.
