PAVING

Concrete, which succeeded stone 'flagging' has a longer history than most of us realise. This older example, besides the Police station in Morecambe, shows a variety of shades with the lightest being more recent replacements:

By contrast, this more recently-laid paving is much lighter in appearance and looks to be almost white under direct sunlight Note also the moss-staining near the wall:

WALLS

Rendering can take on a variety of colours and forms. This is a selection from around Morecambe and Lancaster:

An example of concrete 'stone' walling. Dating from the 1970's these houses were constructed with an inner breeze block wall. The facing helps them blend in with the surrounding older buildings. Situated in Poulton-le-Sands.
