Although the picture quality is not great you can see that these Victorian era chimneys were far from plain. They were designed as copies of architectural towers in Italy. You can find them at the site of the old Tower Works in the middle of Leeds, not far from the station.

Make the Cambridge museum of technology (the old pumping station) one built in 1894 look very basic.
