I have been based in Yokohama since the earlier part of the year and took the opportunity recently to visit the Hara Model Railway Museum which is a purposely built museum opened as part of the Yokohama Mitsui Building.

This is has on display approximately 1/4 of Mr Hara's collection. The layouts are good quality and the gauge one layout is huge. Frustratingly no photography is allowed however I have attached some scans of the documents I received when I visited. This place is worth a visit if you visit Japan as its only a train ride away from Tokyo. The bulk of the collection is continental outline and the UK outline (there is a limited number) is an eclectic mix to say the least.

I have referenced below the Wikipedia page and the Museum Webpage.

I will be moving to Thailand for 3 years in a couple of weeks and will be reunited with my models/modelmaking equipment as they will be coming out of storage so hopefully I will be to get some progress on my Highland layout.

That museum alone almost makes Japan worth a visit Darren. :thumbs

Many of the locomotives in the brochure look just like ours - even if they are in Japanese ............:mutley:mutley (Can you read the script ?)
