Welcome to the Your Model Railway online club and thank you for visiting. If you are looking for help with your hobby or would like to share your knowledge and experience with others then please join us. You will be very warmly welcomed by all of us on YMR.
You can see from the photographs on our front page that we have many excellent modellers with skills covering all aspects of railway modelling. Click to see them all.
If you are new to railway modelling, our aim is to help you get started. No question is considered too basic to ask as we fully realise just how daunting some of this stuff can be to the beginner, and help will be freely given at all times. For the experienced modeller we have many members who will appreciate your skills and knowledge about the hobby, and any contributions you can make to our discussions will be greatly valued.
Please click to join us. We look forward to welcoming you to YMR. We hope you enjoy your visit here today, and whatever you do enjoy your modelling.
Set in the West of England it will hopefully reflect the GWR, and will consist of the ubiquitous branch terminus, with a little industry, an oil fuel/bitumen/coal depot and one or two other bits and pieces.
To the Layout.
Barchester Index To complement the other Indexes on the forum I have added this. Between them I believe we now have the largest single source of model railway information on the internet. Well done everybody.
Hints & Tips Not as mundane as it's title may suggest. This section will build into a major resource for us from forum member Trevor. Comments elsewhere please.
Notices For New Members - Please Read These notices clarify the position of the club with regard to new registrations of members other than those genuinely interested in an active membership, copyright, profiles and log in problems.
Welcome To Your Model Railway Please reply to the Welcome message you will find addressed to you. If you don't see a message then please introduce yourself with a little information on who you are, and what you are doing. This also gives club members a chance to welcome you.

Hints, Tips & Smaller Projects. Here for all those smaller things that can add so much with little effort or expense. New uses for old products, labour or money saving ideas.
Scratchbuilding. This is where we can post on our scratchbuilding projects. Please give as full a description as you can with photographs if possible. Include materials and techniques used as this will be of great help to others who may wish to attempt the same job. The project can be anything to do with our layouts, buildings, scenery, line side equipment, electrical projects, anything.
Kit Bashing Totally different from Scratchbuilding but it is also very popular among modellers. As in scratchbuilding let's have as much information as possible, and the pictures of course.

Metcalfe Building Kits. I have given this manufacturer a section of it's own both because it's products have played a large part in the building of Barchester and because I think it is the best manufacturer of card kits on the market.
Scalescenes Building Kits. Scalescenes make excellent kits and several of our members are using them, hence this section, which complements the Metcalfe section above.
Materials & Tools. Everything you need to add the details to your model railway. Household items, tools, goos, gunks and links to online suppliers etc.

Mainly For Men - Prostate Cancer. Nothing whatsoever to do with model railways but because of what has happened to me over the last five years I think it is vitally important for all men and their families to have as much information as possible on this subject. Read it or not, it's up to you but I would ask all members to refrain from mentioning the subject elsewhere in the club. If you should have comments then please make them here.
Stop Smoking Campaign This is the area for any smoker who wants to quit. Being a life long smoker myself I know how difficult this can be. Let's try and help each other to a smoke free life.
