Welcome to the Your Model Railway online club and thank you for visiting. If you are looking for help with your hobby or would like to share your knowledge and experience with others then please join us. You will be very warmly welcomed by all of us on YMRC.
You can see from the photographs below this panel on our front page that we have many excellent modellers with skills covering all aspects of railway modelling. Click to see all the pictures full size.
If you are new to railway modelling, our aim is to help you get started. No question is considered too basic to ask as we fully realise just how daunting some of this stuff can be to the beginner, and help will be freely given at all times.
For the experienced modeller we have many members who will appreciate your skills and knowledge about the hobby, and any contributions you can make to our discussions will be greatly valued.
Whatever your level of modelling experience we are sure you will find something here to further your enjoyment of this fine hobby, and we look forward to having you as a member of YMRC.
If you would like to see a sample page from our discussions, please click sample page .
Before deciding to join YMRC, please bear in mind that joining us obliges you to participate in the life of the forum. The owner of the forum cannot afford the web costs of inactive members who do not participate and you may find that your membership will be automatically deleted if you have not joined in our discussions for several months. Just a brief note of appreciation for something you have read, or a few notes about your current modelling project, is all that is required. Thank you for your understanding.
If you would like to join YMRC, please click* membership email to send me an email. Please state your real name, your email address, and the user name which you would like to use if it is different from your real name. Please also say a few words about your railway interests so that I can be sure that you are a genuine modeller and not a spammer. Please also tell me where you are in the world, other members like to know that as we have members all over the world. I will then register you as a member and send you a password by email so that you can log in with the user name which you requested. After you have logged in you can if you wish change your password to something more memorable.
We look forward to welcoming you to YMRC. We hope you enjoy your visit here today, and whatever you do enjoy your modelling.
Alan. YMRC owner and webmaster.

Barchester Original Index This section was created by our founder, the late Bob Heath. Most of the links no longer work - see instead the Bob's Barchester section above. Bob said "To complement the other Indexes on the forum I have added this. Between them I believe we now have the largest single source of model railway information on the internet. Well done everybody."

Scratchbuilding. This is where we can post on our scratchbuilding projects. Please give as full a description as you can with photographs if possible. Include materials and techniques used as this will be of great help to others who may wish to attempt the same job. The project can be anything to do with our layouts, buildings, scenery, line side equipment, electrical projects, anything.
Metcalfe Building Kits. I have given this manufacturer a section of it's own both because it's products have played a large part in the building of Barchester and because I think it is the best manufacturer of card kits on the market.
Members Ideas For Layouts. Any ideas, thoughts, plans or sketches on layouts you would like to build or that you think might be interesting, either to build or operate. Branch, mainline, waterfront, logging, anything.
General Model Railway Discussion. All those other things that involve model railways that don't fit easily into any of the existing sections. The state of the hobby, where it's going, prices and value for money, etc.
Mainly For Men - Prostate Cancer. Nothing whatsoever to do with model railways but because of what has happened to me over the last five years I think it is vitally important for all men and their families to have as much information as possible on this subject. Read it or not, it's up to you but I would ask all members to refrain from mentioning the subject elsewhere in the club. If you should have comments then please make them here.
